More students than ever before are taking advantage of online classes. According to a 2011 report by the Babson Survey Research Group, more than 6.1 million students took at least one online classes in 2010.
  • It’s no surprise that U.S. News and World report for the first time released its ranking of online programs.
  • Of course, the question is whether online education can help someone find a job? Vicky Phillips of GetEducated.com spoke with CNN in March 2009 about how online education is more convenient for people who want achieve a degree and continue working.

  • Yet, plenty of issues relate to the ethical delivery of online education. For example, the integrity of online education is still under scrutiny as many believe that online education enable students to plagiarize. Advocates of online education say that the question of plagiarism is not new.
  • The debate whether online education is the legitimate form of learning or students must attend traditional institutes of higher education does not seem to end in the near future. Here, in this video of two university presidents.  They present their views on what should be the future of higher education.

  • Technology has interwoven itself in every aspect of the society. Today, some toddlers enjoy learning more from iPhones than from books. It is safe to predict that in the near future, the new generation will not use books but they will use technology more than humans have ever used before. We should welcome the rise of online education but work hard to ensure the quality of learning regardles of the delivery method.
