Last week, Jack Dorsey, Twitter Co-founder and Square chief executive tweeted a photo that offers a view into the gender gap in Silicon Valley. In the photo he is having lunch with 13 interns and not a single of them are female.

Silicon Valley has always struggled to hire more female workers in science and engineering. Thanks to Girls Who Code, a new organization that might be able to make a difference in decreasing the gender gap in technological workforce. Girls Who Code is dedicated to educate 13-17-year-old-girls with skills so they can pursue opportunities in technology and engineering, according to its website.

Watch this video where Reshma Saujani, founder of Girls Who Code and a one-time congressional candidate talks about the importance of attracting more women to technology and why that is imperative for economic growth.
