If Jack Welch can have his own school and now MOOC, why not Ron Paul, former congressman? While not exactly a school, the K-12 “Ron Paul Curriculum” aimed at homeschoolers, teaches the foundations of liberty (western civ), alongside math, basic science, and internet marketing, among other things — delivered online through videos and pdfs.
What makes this interesting for higher ed is that Paul says students who hustle in the program can “quiz” out of the first two years of college.
K-5 is free, but certain grades won’t be ready until 2015, because it is prepared by volunteers. And then the estimated total cost per student for grades 6-12 is $2,500. All with 100% money back guarantee: “…no one can please everyone, as I discovered in Congress.”
